The Gem through the Years
In 1920, The GEM Theatre initially began by housing vaudeville performers from all over the country.
Then, in 1932, with the advent of motion pictures, The GEM was among the first American theatres to transition to a cinema house.
In 1965, when the institution of live theatre became a rare commodity, The GEM returned to its origins as a live theatre venue and began its commitment to preserving theatre culture.
In 2008, The Gem became the permanent home to One More Productions, a 501(c)(3) non-profit production company founded by Nicole Cassesso and Damien Lorton.
Today, the GEM continues to uphold its commitment to the arts by presenting original shows written, produced, and performed by local thespians, artists, and musicians, providing the Garden Grove community with Broadway-quality entertainment at an affordable cost for the whole family.
