Raena Ramirez Headshot copyRaena Ramirez is a 19-year-old sophomore at Golden West College. She plans to transfer to a four year University in the fall of 2016 where she will work towards receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She is fascinated by psychology and hopes to one day conduct her own research in this field.

Raena attended Cerritos High School where she was an avid member of multiple teams, clubs, and other student oriented organizations. She was a participant in her high school’s assembled student body where she was both Commissioner of Spirit and Commissioner of Activities. Raena graduated with high honors and continued her academic success into college. She is currently on the Dean’s List at Golden West College and is a three-time academic all star athlete.

In addition to her education, Raena has a great love for sports. She has played soccer for 15 years and has also participated in volleyball, gymnastics, basketball, softball, diving, cheerleading, and track. She was a 4 year varsity member of both her high school soccer team and cheer team. She was the two time Vice-President of her high schools cheer team as well as captain of both her club soccer team and high school soccer and track team. Raena continued her pursuit of sports into college where served as the captain of the soccer team. Last year she helped lead her team to playoffs for the first time in the school’s history. She also joined her college track team where she challenged herself by taking on hurdles and javelin for the first time, placing 2nd in her league and 7th in the state of California.

Raena has a true heart for service and volunteers at New Life Community Church where she has served as a summer camp counselor for over 4 years. Currently she is a member of Golden West College’s Alpha Gamma Sigma Club participating in various community service projects throughout the year. Her platform, Empowering Women through Sports, has led her to develop a program to introduce sports to children at an early age and hopes to partner with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America in the next few months.

Miss Garden Grove was the first pageant Raena ever participated in and she feels so blessed to serve this community. She is honored to be a representative of such a strong city and will strive to make Garden Grove proud on her road to Miss California. She can’t wait to dive into her year of service and is excited to see what the months ahead have to offer.
