From Minneapolis, Minnesota, James Hong’s early career was in civil engineering and one of his first jobs was working for the county of Los Angeles.  After first appearing on Groucho Marx’s ”You Bet Your Life” in 1954, he was instantly bitten by the Hollywood bug and decided to change his career.  Since then, he has never looked back and after nearly 60 years in the entertainment industry, he continues to keep busy today.

Recently James played Mr. Kwon in the GMC movie “Trinity Goodheart” with Eric Benet and Erica Gluck.  In 2011 he received his first Annie Award for “Kung Fu Panda Holiday” TV Special reprising his role as Mr. Ping from both “Kung Fu Panda” movies.  Earlier in that year he earned the Daytime Emmy Nomination for Nickelodeon’s “Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness.”

James will be starring in this Summer’s Universal Pictures “R.I.P.D.” with Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon and Mary-Louise Parker on July 19th nationwide.  He is also anticipating to reprise his role again in the third installment of DreamWork’s Animation “Kung Fu Panda 3” currently set for Winter of 2015 from 20th Century Fox.

Including his award winning voice-over work, he can be seen on the Disney XD Channel show “Pair of Kings” as his reoccurring role of the island’s Elder.  Other Disney shows include “A.N.T. Farm” and “I’m in the Band.”  Between film, TV and video game projects, James has over 450 on-screen credits to his name and the list continues to grow.  James’ vast career has enabled him to work with and share the silver screen with many of Hollywood’s legends such as Clark Gable, John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Steve McQueen, Charlton Heston and more recently Maggie Q, Keanu Reeves, Harrison Ford and Bill Paxton to name a few.

James is thrilled to be attending the 2013 Garden Grove Strawberry Festival as Co-Celebrity Grand Marshall alongside Miss California 2012, Leah Cecil.  James will be signing autographs on Saturday afternoon of the festival to help raise funds for Young Variety, a part of Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern California Tent 25.  To get the latest updates on James, please visit his Facebook page at JamesHongPage.
